Schedule the Items on Your To Do List
Is your To Do list a bottomless pit where you throw things that never get done? A list is simply a "list" and making the list does not guarantee you will get any of it done. So schedule each item for a specific day and time. During breakfast, in between classes, it doesn't matter where you pencil it in. The mere act of allotting a time and day for a task is the first step towards actually getting it done.

Hang Around the People You Want to Be
Research shows that the people you associate with often determine the kind of person you become. Do you want improved health? Hang around people with healthy habits. Do you want to be more altruistic, more generous, more organized or an all around happier person? Behavior is contagious and its effects ripple throughout a social group, thus bringing about change.

Check Your "Enough" Meter
We all need a certain amount of food, exercise, fresh air, sleep and overall healthy living to thrive. But do we need another pair of shoes? Or three new notebooks? Yet another set of markers? It's not good to have too many of anything whether it is clothes or toys. So before you feel the urge to buy yet another pair of sunglasses, ask yourself, "Do I really need this or do I have enough?"

Have a Side Project
Write a book? Start a blog? Organize a book club for students? We all have things we wish we could do but "never have time for". Eliminate the excuses. Now is as good a time as any. Pencil it into your schedule. If it's on your schedule, you will get it done. Side projects can be related to our work or completely different. Choose something that will bring you satisfaction.

:
Skip the Vertical Order
When we make a To Do list or any kind of list we usually use the top-down vertical approach, then simply cross items off our list. Why not use a To Do mind map instead? Break larger tasks into smaller ones and put similar tasks on the same side, like lesson planning tasks, materials to gather or personal errands.

Have an Internet-free Day!
The Internet is chock-full of resources and information for teachers, but also let's face it - distractions. Before you know it, you mind is cluttered with videos, websites and the latest news. Give your brain a break and schedule one Internet-free day a week. It will give you time to declutter, your mind, give your brain a much-needed rest and ultimately boost your productivity.

Break it up into Smaller Tasks
"Clean out the supplies closet." "Clean out my desk." There are items on our To Do lists that are so big they are practically impossible to tackle in one fell swoop. And because the task looks so daunting, it remains forever ignored on your list while you tackle shorter, easier tasks. Break up the big jobs into smaller, more manageable tasks, like cleaning out a closet one drawer at a time.

:
Finish What You Start
Have you ever had a lesson plan that took you hours to create, just because you worked on it for random short intervals? The thing is when you start any activity you need time to gain momentum. So each time you stop and have to start again, you waste precious energy, whereas if you keep going, you'll get the job done faster, and most likely with better results.

Avoid Multitasking
Multitasking or doing several things at the same time sounds fabulous and some are even proud of being good at it. But the hard truth is that our brains are not wired for that kind of juggling. Don't watch a video you plan to use for your class while you correct writing assignments. Don't correct anything while on the phone with a colleague. Give each task your full attention.

Take Advantage of Waiting Time
How many exercises can you correct while you wait for the dentist? How many tests can you grade while you wait to speak to the bank manager? You'd be surprised at how much you can get done while you would otherwise be simply "waiting". Always carry things to do in your bag. Keep notes in your Smartphone and jot down ideas. You can plan a whole lesson on your train commute!
